Sobe always wanted to be an artist and his talent was soon recognised. He believed that through his art, people in other countries could learn about him. For him it was an extra bonus that he could make a living from it.
When he was alive, it amazed him that one of his prints received the Jury Honourable Mention at the Graphica Creativa 96 exhibition in Finland. Because of this he was invited to participate in the World Award Winners Gallery 1997 in Krakow. For him this was a great honour. He remembered having seen many wild animals during his childhood and enjoyed portraying these animals in his art.
His paintings and prints are usually crammed with different animals. He loved to give almost equal attention to the animals, although he often concentrated on one in particular.
In contrast to the other Kalahari Bushmen artists he preferred the lino printmaking technique. He loved painting and etching, but it is in his linocuts that he excelled.
Sobe will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the art world.
